Un libro extraordinario. Se puede tomar como ciencia ficción "dura" y aún así Haldeman deja espacio para el romance. La forma en que la dilatación temporal es usada en el libro es asombrosa y el final es simplemente bello e ingenioso.

This story idea goes all the way back to Homer's The Odyssey.

I read The Forever War a few years ago, but it was a "classic."

Overall, I think it is greater than the sum of its parts. I found the story to be short and straight to the point. The writing style was very simple, and there wasn't any suspense or twists and turns in the plot. So I felt it was fine, but not great as a read.

However, I loved the core ideas of the book. After I was done, I kept thinking about it for days and weeks.

I later read The Forever Peace. While I would also rate that book a 4, I rate the two books together as a 5. This combo of books is in my must read list when SciFi noobs ask for a recommendation.

The first time I read it, I read it twice in the same day. It is that good.

It's a masterpiece. As literature it's direct with barely a wasted word. As a metaphor for the experience of coming home from modern war (okay Vietnam but probably as relevant for any of the wars since)it's unsurpassed.
