Orwell was amazingly prescient about mass surveillance. But it looks like corporations, not government are going to be Big Brother.Check out a new novel: The Corps 2081for a scary post-climate change world.

the date is not predicted time of this society forming, it was an arbitrary choice simply based on flipping the current date when Orwell started writing the book, so 1948 became 1984.

So dark. So lonely. Understandable. Something to think about. Not an action adventure novel. Read this so very long ago in high school. We live like sheep, following one another now. And leave your trail everywhere. Good book.

Fantastic and well written. It's surprisingly relative today, although slightly outdated. A mandatory read for everybody. Plot and story is weak, but the message the book portrays is the most important, perhaps of all time. If you're looking for character devlopment, it's not there. But still, a perfect book.
