Here we go again…
The Years of Rice and Salt by Kim Stanley Robinson.
I second this. I just ordered it.
Works for me.
Well, I guess it is just the three of us...
By the way, Ken, will you be reading it?
Still waiting for it to get here.
I deleted the sample. Alt history isn't my cup of tea. Picky ain't I?
Be interested to hear thoughts on this book. Must say it sounds like it's a love it or hate it kinda book. Don't think it would be my cup of tea.
It came in the mail, today! I am looking forward to starting it tonight.
It is a very clever book indeed with many layers to unravel. Yesterday, I read the most wonderful theory about cuckoo souls and colic babies and today, I have just entered Al-Andalus. For personal reasons, I’m finding this section particularly intriguing. I have to remind myself though, that this is alternative history as I find myself, every now and then, arguing with Robinson about some of the facts.
I have made it through the Chinese discovery of the New World. I am enjoying it quite a bit!
I have caught up and I have begun reading the 4th book about alchemy.
I have some doubts about the structure of TYoSa, as it keeps introducing the same characters in very different scenarios. Despite the fact they are trying to grow spiritually in each reincarnation, it feels to me more like novellas rather than a connecting, common thread moving along the book.
Yeah, I agree, although they do try to bring this together in future chapters/books/cycles. Stay tuned!
Good! I'm enjoying it but I am not in love with it.
I have put TYoRaS in the fridge for a little while. I can't focus on reading any fiction at the moment. I guess, it is almost December and my saturation level has finally peaked.
I don't know if it is worth finishing, IMO. I am not even sure if it is SF. Not a fan, I guess.
