She was a favourite authoress of mine during my teens, and still is, even though I haven't read her for years. Very, very prolific, having written both fantasy and science fiction. Two of her novels won the Hugo, both for science fiction, one space opera and one more hard SF, and both set in the same, quite vast future history.

    Pretty clueless... Margaret Atwood...?

Nope, Margaret Atwood's SFnal elements tend to be more mainstream, and she has, infamously, tried to deny the SF labelling of her work in the past, though I'm now under the impression that she's finally given up and accepted it. This other lady is elbow deep in the genre: sword-and-sorcery fantasy, space opera, alien societies, military SF, etc. She was very recently named 'Grand Master' by the Science Fiction Writers of America (SFWA).

Okay, since no one else has made an effort, the answer is C. J. Cherryh.

    Who's next?

    An easy one... I think.
Fantasy author, who started his literary career as a translator, in particular, of Science Fiction.
His books have been translated into 19 languages including English...

Hint? Which country or continent is he from? Or what kind of fantasy does he write?

I know this one! Literally was looking him up a couple weeks back, because I was toying with starting the Witcher books and wondered what the author looked like. Well, he looked like him, so unless I'm otherwise mistaken, I'll go with Sapkowski.

We need more hints! What kind of books? Where from?

I haven’t got the slightest idea, but considering @TomTB's mischief, I’m going to go for his newest favourite author, Pierce Brown, form the Red Rising Series.

Isn't @TomTB also a big fan of Mark Lawrence's Broken Emipre trilogy? Could it be him?

    Ok ok ... a clue.

He's a current American author of predominantly Sci Fi books.

That's actually 5 clues if you read between the lines.
